Entertaining at home this New Year’s Eve? Try these recipes to make your gathering extra special.

Crab Crescents

Ingredients

1 tube (8 ounces) refrigerated crescent rolls

3 tablespoons prepared pesto

1/2 cup fresh crab meat

Directions

Preheat the oven to 375°. Unroll crescent dough; separate into eight triangles. Cut each triangle in half lengthwise, forming 2 triangles. Spread 1/2 teaspoon pesto over each triangle; place 1 rounded teaspoon of crab along the wide end of each triangle.

Roll up triangles from the wide ends and place point side down one inch apart on an ungreased baking sheet.

Bake until golden brown, 10-12 minutes. Serve warm.

Lobster Tartlets

Ingredients

1/2 cup shredded white cheddar cheese

1/2 cup shredded provolone cheese

1/2 cup cooked lobster meat, chopped, or 1 can (6-1/2 ounces) flaked lobster meat, drained

1/3 cup finely chopped sweet red pepper

2 tablespoons finely chopped green onion (white portion only)

2 tablespoons mayonnaise

Dash seafood seasoning

2 packages (1.9 ounces each) frozen miniature phyllo tart shells

Paprika, optional

Directions

Preheat oven to 350°. In a small bowl, combine the first seven ingredients. Spoon mixture into tart shells. Place filled shells on an ungreased baking sheet. Bake until shells are lightly browned and filling is heated through, 12-15 minutes. If desired, sprinkle with paprika before serving.

Smoked-Almond Cheese Toasts

Ingredients

3/4 cup whipped cream cheese, softened

2 tablespoons 2% milk

1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese

1 cup shredded Swiss cheese

3/4 cup chopped smoked almonds

1/2 cup soft sun-dried tomato halves (not packed in oil), chopped

1/8 teaspoon pepper

1 French bread baguette (10-1/2 ounces), cut into 1/4-inch slices

Chopped fresh chives, optional

Directions

Preheat oven to 350°. In a large bowl, beat cream cheese and milk until smooth. Stir in cheeses, almonds, tomato and pepper; spread over bread slices.

Place on ungreased baking sheets. Bake until cheese is melted, 10-12 minutes. If desired, top with chopped fresh chives.

Cranberry Sauce Meatballs

Ingredients

1 can (14 ounces) jellied cranberry sauce

1 bottle (12 ounces) chilli sauce

3/4 cup packed brown sugar

1/2 teaspoon chilli powder

1/2 teaspoon ground cumin

1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper

1 package (32 ounces) frozen fully cooked home-style meatballs, thawed
