Super Eagles and Brentford midfielder Frank Onyeka has revealed his injury status after Nigeria secured a 3-2 win against Tunisia at the Complexe Sportif de Fès last night, Soccernet.ng reports.

The 27-year-old had a good performance against the Eagles of Carthage before making his way off the pitch after 79 minutes, replaced by Chidera Ejuke.

However, after Nigeria survived through their teeth against Sami Trabelsi’s side, Onyeka was seen limping after the full-time whistle was blown.

Soccer Frank Onyeka: Brentford midfielder suffered an ankle twist against Tunisia

Eric Chelle’s men now have six points from their opening two AFCON 2025 fixtures, but the former Midtjylland midfielder confirmed he should be in contention to feature against Uganda after his ankle twist.

“No, I just suffered a little twist, but it is okay. Tank doesn’t get broken. Tank is always on point,” the 27-year-old, famously nicknamed Frank the Tank, told Ademola Victor.

“We are still going to play the same way we played today. We are not going to drop, you know, keep going and take every game at a time.

Speaking about Nigeria’s performance against Tunisia, Onyeka confirmed the Super Eagles were fired up for revenge after the Carthage Eagles knocked them out of the AFCON 2021 tournament in Cameroon four years ago.

“Yes, it was like we had to give them to know what happened in Cameroon. We were up for it. We came out really strong, and we are happy that we got the three points.

“Of course, I mean being three goals ahead, and allowing two easy goals is not good. I think it is something that we need to work on in training so we can get better.

“The game plan worked really well. We are glad and happy that we are through to the next round.

“I think our game plan worked really well. The way we pressed them high didn’t give them any chance to play, so that’s what made the difference,” the two-time Denmark Superliga winner concluded.

With qualification to the Round of 16 secured for the three-time AFCON Champions, they can afford to rotate players in their final group game against Uganda on Tuesday.
