Saudi Arabia, Russia Sign Mutual Visa Exemption Agreement
Saudi Crown Prince and Russian President

Saudi Arabia and Russia on Monday signed a landmark mutual visa exemption agreement for citizens of both countries, according to Gulf News.

The two countries finalized the deal in Riyadh during the Saudi–Russian Investment and Business Forum, that brough together Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman, Minister of Energy and Head of the Saudi side of the Joint Committee, and Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak.

Signed by Saudi Foreign Minister, Prince Faisal bin Farhan, and the Russian Deputy Prime Minister, the agreement includes all passports categories from diplomatic and special to ordinary.

The agreement will grant citizens of both countries visa-free entry to travel for tourism, business, or to visit family and friends.

The initiative will significantly enhance bilateral relations, facilitate travel procedures, and foster commercial ties between the two countries.

According to the deal, Saudis and Russians can stay for up to 90 days, either consecutively or across several visits within one year.

However, citizens who travel to work, study, stay or perform Hajj, are not included in the exemption. Therefore, they should obtain the appropriate visas for these purposes.

By signing this agreement, Russia becomes the first country with which Saudi Arabia has signed a mutual visa exemption covering holders of ordinary passports.

Commenting on the agreement, officials noted that this step stands as a testament both nations’ dedication to streamlining travel procedures, rising reciprocal visits and unleashing new horizons for tourism, economic and cultural cooperation.
