2026 NFL mock draft: College Football Playoff quarterbacks taken with Nos. 1 and 2 overall after trade

Oregon’s Dante Moore and Indiana’s Fernando Mendoza have distinguished themselves as the draft’s top two quarterback prospects, so it will require one of the first two picks for a team to ensure the rights to one of those players. In this thought exercise, one team does, in fact, trade into position. 

The idea of trading up to No. 1 overall for a quarterback seems like it would be a common occurrence, but it has not happened since the Rams moved up for California’s Jared Goff. Ironically, Mendoza began his collegiate career at California and Moore was not much farther away at UCLA.
