Bovis Construction (Europe) has been awarded a £176.6m design-and-build contract to redevelop the Duke of Gloucester Barracks in Gloucestershire.
The Ministry of Defence (MoD) confirmed the award on 18 December via a call-off from an existing framework.
The contract runs until 15 March 2030.
Duke of Gloucester Barracks hosts the British Army’s 104 Theatre Sustainment Brigade headquarters and 29 Regiment, Royal Logistic Corps — including its component squadrons and the tri-service Joint Air Mounting Centre.
Bovis will deliver the redevelopment under the Defence Estate Optimisation (DEO) programme, which is overseen by the MoD’s Defence Infrastructure Organisation.
DEO began in 2016 as a £5.1bn, 25-year programme aimed at modernising the UK defence estate across all services.
Ongoing DEO jobs for Bovis include a £237m contract to deliver new and refurbished facilities across two East Midlands sites for the British Army: Kendrew Barracks and Bulwell Army Reserve Centre.
Kier, Skanska and Galliford Try are among the other contractors involved in delivering DEOP.
Figures from the National Audit Office showed that the MoD spent approximately 12 per cent of its annual resources on its estate, amounting to around £5bn a year in 2023/24.
