Injury Report: Week 16 vs Falcons – Arizona Cardinals

Football

THURSDAY REPORT

The injury report had one small change on Thursday for the Cardinals. Outside linebacker Josh Sweat returned to practice after his Wednesday rest day and was upgraded to a limited participant.

The missing players at practice were left tackle Paris Johnson Jr. (knee), safety Jalen Thompson (hamstring), cornerbacks Max Melton (heel) and Darren Hall (concussion), offensive linemen Kelvin Beachum (NIR-Rest) and Evan Brown (NIR-Personal).

Marvin Harrison Jr. continued practicing in a limited fashion this week. The wide receiver looked good during the media’s open portion as he works back from the heel injury. Also limited were safety Dadrion Taylor-Demerson (ankle), linebacker Cody Simon (knee/ankle), and wide receiver Xavier Weaver (hamstring).

Falcons tight end Kyle Pitts appeared on the injury report with a knee injury as a limited participant. He enters the outing as the reigning NFC Offensive Player of the Week following a three-touchdown, 166-yard performance against the Buccaneers.

WEDNESDAY REPORT

For the second week in a row, the Cardinals will be without left tackle Paris Johnson Jr. (knee) and safety Jalen Thompson (hamstring). Jonathan Gannon ruled out the two players for Sunday’s game prior to Wednesday’s walkthrough, opening the door for rookie Josh Fryar to earn his second career start as the bookend tackle.

Because the Cardinals held a walkthrough, the practice designations are estimations.

Marvin Harrison Jr. was back at practice after missing the last two games with a heel injury. When asked how the wide receiver was doing, Gannon said Harrison felt “good” and they’ll see how the rest of the week goes. It’d be a boost to a wide receiver room that, besides for the recently signed Jalen Brooks, only has Michael Wilson as a healthy receiver.

Cornerbacks Max Melton (heel) and Darren Hall (concussion), offensive linemen Kelvin Beachum (NIR-Rest) and Evan Brown (NIR-Personal), and outside linebacker Josh Sweat (NIR-Rest) did not take part in the walkthrough.

After missing the last five games, Dadrion Taylor-Demerson returned in a limited capacity. The safety has been dealing with an ankle injury. Linebacker Cody Simon (knee/ankle) and wide receiver Xavier Weaver (hamstring) were also limited.

Defensive lineman L.J. Collier logged his first full practice since his window was opened. The Cardinals can activate him to the 53-man roster by Saturday afternoon. There is an open roster spot available.

Wide receiver Drake London has missed the last four games with a PCL sprain. He returned to practice for the first time on Wednesday as a limited participant.
