FG Orders “Immediate” Closure of 47 Unity Schools Across Northern Regions Over Rising Insecurity

The Federal Government has ordered the temporary closure of 47 Unity Schools across Nigeria following a surge in student abductions.

The directive was communicated in a circular signed by Binta Abdulkadir, Director of Senior Secondary Education at the Federal Ministry of Education.

The circular stated:
“In view of the recent security challenges in various parts of the country and to prevent any security breaches, the Honourable Minister of Education has approved the immediate closure of the listed Federal Unity Colleges. Principals of the affected colleges are to ensure strict compliance.”

On Thursday, over 50 schools in Kwara State were also closed following attacks by bandits, highlighting the urgent need for enhanced security measures across the nation’s learning centers.
