“It’s about longing for a past that never truly existed, a time that never was…”

London-based artist Nico Cann continues to affirm his pop-rock credentials with latest single. ‘Lose My Mind’.
Produced by longtime collaborator Thomas Mitchener, ‘Lose My Mind’ first came to fruition in Milan in January 2023. Imbued with a coming-of-age angst, the track was shaped in part by Henley and Bruce Hornsby’s ‘The End of Innocence,’ one of Nico’s all-time favorite songs, and draws loose inspiration from The Catcher in the Rye.
Anchored by a Roland Jazz Chorus 120 riff and a soaring guitar crescendo from close friend Nicholas Richards, Nico Cann’s affirming voice echoes and invokes Bruce Springsteen’s scruff, Jack Antonoff’s late-night melancholy, and Sam Fender’s blues rock ache.
“At its heart, the song reflects on the memory of a childhood love—a time of innocence, instinct, and unfiltered emotion before the weight of adult life set in,” Nico shares. “It’s about longing for a past that never truly existed—a time that never was.”
“The song is inspired by the spirit of freedom and inventiveness that defined the 1980s,” Nico adds. “I felt that those values—hope, creativity, and a sense of possibility—are increasingly being lost today, and I wanted to capture and celebrate them through music.”
A student of rock music lore, Nico recorded his debut single ‘Runnin’ in the Rain’ at Abbey Road Studios, which he followed with ‘Light Over the Ridge’ released earlier this year.
Nico has played numerous shows, including a sold-out headlining gig with his band, The Air Traffic, in his hometown of Milan. With his next London performance set for October 24th, the artist is primed to mesmerize even more listeners.
