Bovis Construction is to deliver new and refurbished facilities across two East Midlands sites for the British Army under a £237m contract.
The Defence Infrastructure Organisation appointed the contractor to modernise accommodation, medical and catering facilities at Kendrew Barracks and to provide offices, storage and a band practice facility at Bulwell Army Reserve Centre (ARC).
Design work is under way, with Bovis scheduled to start construction in autumn 2026.
The scheme forms part of the Defence Estate Optimisation portfolio, a £5.1bn investment programme aimed at upgrading military infrastructure.
At Kendrew Barracks, the works will include single living accommodation for junior ranks and new regimental offices.
The site will also host 36 Engineer Regiment, which is relocating from Invicta Park in Maidstone.
Units from Grantham, Telford and Nottingham will also move, enabling the disposal of several sites.
Bulwell ARC will gain secure storage, unit offices and a purpose-built band facility.
Major General AJ Smith, director of Army basing and infrastructure, said the programme would improve quality of life for both regular and reserve personnel while supporting military capability.
Warren Webster, programme director for major projects at the DIO, said the contract represented “another successful milestone” in modernising the estate.
Contractor Willmott Dixon is developing 15 buildings at Kendrew under a separate £61m deal awarded in June 2024.
