FG-State Govt. Collaboration Key To Impactful Governance – Idris

News Investigators/ The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, says collaboration between the Federal and State Governments is the ultimate key to impactful governance that will effectively deliver the dividends of democracy.

Mr Idris said this during a visit with his team to the Minister of Works, David Umahi, on Saturday in Abakaliki.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the visit followed inspections of Federal Government projects and town hall meetings in Enugu and Ebonyi.

He explained that the fundamental benefits of synergy and collaboration could not be overemphasised, adding that President Bola Tinubu was a leader who liked to carry everyone along on the journey to prosperity for all.

“The Federal Government and the state governments need to come together, and that is what President Tinubu is preaching. It is about effective governance and not just being in Abuja.

“A larger percentage of people live in the states than in Abuja, so if Tinubu connects with the people in the states, what better way can you have the unity we pray for, a unity that will drive us toward the prosperity we all crave for?

“My message is that there is a need for the Federal Government and the state governments to come together so that, collaboratively, there will be a match towards sustainable prosperity for our people,” Idris said.

Mr Idris said the President Tinubu had brought the South-East to the centre of affairs in Nigerian politics, stressing that the region was no longer on the periphery.

“No government in the last 30 to 40 years has done as much for the South-East as President Tinubu has done in just two years. And I keep saying ‘just two years’ because it is just the beginning.

“We know that if he continues this way, Nigeria will be better for it. I don’t know who will ever change a winning team; so for me, this is really a re-engagement exercise,” Idris said.

He further disclosed that during the inspection, he and his team saw many impactful projects from Enugu down to Ebonyi, funded by Tinubu’s administration as well as state governments.

“I want to remind everyone that Tinubu is the president for all, irrespective of political party, and that’s why our re-engagement and reconnection exercise began in Enugu.”
