TikTok Adds YouTube Music to its ‘Add to Music App’ Options

TikTok’s adding another music integration option, with YouTube Music subscribers now also able to add tracks from TikTok to their YouTube audio playlists.

As you can see in this video overview, now, you can easily add tracks that you discover on TikTok to your YouTube Music playlist, among TikTok’s various other music player integrations.

As explained by YouTube:

YouTube Music’s integration makes it easier than ever for users to save the music they discover on TikTok directly to their TikTok Songs playlist on YouTube Music – empowering artists and fans to build lasting connections, so casual listeners can become lifelong superfans.”

As shown in the clip, TikTok’s “Add to Music App” option is displayed when you tap on “Add Song” next to a track name at the bottom of a TikTok video in feed. From there, you can select the music hosting service of your choice, and it will automatically add the track to your playlist (depending on your music service subscription settings).

TikTok add to music app

“Following the first use of the Add to Music App feature, YouTube will then become the default music streaming service for future track saves. Users can also use the Add to Music App feature from an artist’s Sound Detail Page.”

It’s another handy music discovery element in the app, which has become a key connector for music, helping many fans find new bands and singers to listen to.

Indeed, according to TikTok’s most recent Music Impact Report, 84% of all songs that entered the Billboard Global 200 in 2024 gained viral traction on TikTok first, while TikTok video views directly correlated to overall streaming volumes for 96% of the artists analyzed.

And its Add to Music feature has also been a winner in this respect, with over a billion track saves directly stemming from the option.

As such, it makes sense for YouTube Music to also align with this, while it also adds another element to TikTok’s value as a music discovery engine.

I guess, the only question then is what platform could possibly replace TikTok in this respect if it were to be banned in the U.S.?

YouTube Music is available as an Add Music partner in the latest version of the app.
