I Would Have Been A Fraudster Or Oil Thief If Not For Music-Burna Boy

Burna Boy, the Grammy winner, has opened up about what his life could have looked like if he had not pursued music.

In a now-viral video, the ‘Last Last’ hitmaker was asked what he would be doing outside the entertainment industry.

Burna Boy jokingly listed several alternatives in his response.

“There are many options. I could be stealing oil, you know. I could be playing basketball. What else? I could be a fraudster,” he said.

“You know what I mean? I could have been a suicide bomber. Anything. Even a prostitute.”

Born Damini Ogulu, Burna Boy gained fame after releasing ‘Like to Party’, the lead single from his debut album ‘L.I.F.E’ (2013).

Since breaking into the mainstream more than a decade ago, he has established himself as one of Africa’s most successful artistes, known for his genre-blending style and chart-topping albums.

He has released several albums: ‘L.I.F.E’ (2013), ‘On a Spaceship’ (2015), ‘Outside’ (2018), ‘African Giant’ (2019), ‘Twice As Tall‘ (2020), ‘Love, Damini‘ (2022) and ‘I Told Them‘ (2023).

Burna Boy has also won several awards. In 2021, the Afro-fusion artiste won the ‘Best World Music Album’ category at the Grammy Awards for ‘Twice As Tall’.

Last month, the singer released his eighth studio album titled ‘No Sign of Weakness’.

Burna Boy revealed that the album’s title reflects his resilience in overcoming life’s toughest challenges.

The 34-year-old artiste said despite facing numerous obstacles that could have ended his life or career, he never showed weakness.
