Transfer news and rumours: Wissa latest, West Ham exit, Ipswich’s Napoli deal

Sports Mole rounds up the latest transfer news and rumours today, including the latest on Yoane Wissa, an exit from West Ham United and Ipswich Town’s deal with Napoli.

Brentford have decided to allow forward Yoane Wissa to leave the club should they secure a replacement amid interest from Newcastle United, the latest report has claimed.

The Toon have experienced a difficult summer transfer window, with the side missing out on a number of targets, including the likes of Hugo Ekitike and Bryan Mbeumo.

Boss Eddie Howe also faces the prospect of losing his star striker Alexander Isak to Liverpool, and if the Swede was sold, then the Magpies boss would undoubtedly need a replacement.

Benjamin Sesko has been linked, though they face competition from Manchester United, while Brentford were reported to be reluctant to lose Wissa after selling Mbeumo to the Red Devils.

Transfer expert Ben Jacobs has claimed that the Bees have since softened their stance, with Newcastle ready to place a new bid for the attacker, but they may have to battle Tottenham Hotspur for his signature.

West Ham United: Update on exit of star

West Ham United manager Graham Potter has confirmed that striker Michail Antonio will be leaving the club this summer.

The forward’s contract was due to expire at the end of June, but after undergoing surgery following a car crash in December, the Hammers decided to delay making a decision regarding an extension.

Boss Potter has seen his offensive ranks reinforced this transfer window, with Callum Wilson joining following the expiry of his Newcastle United contract.

Speaking to reporters prior to West Ham’s friendly against Bournemouth on Sunday, the head coach confirmed Antonio would not be offered a new deal, saying: “Will he be part of the squad this season? No.”

Antonio leaves West Ham as their all-time top scorer in Premier League history, netting 68 times in 323 appearances.

Ipswich Town agree deal with Napoli for midfield transfer

Ipswich Town are reported to have reached an agreement with Napoli for the transfer of Jens Cajuste on a permanent deal.

Cajuste was part of the Ipswich side that were relegated from the Premier League last season, starting 25 times and playing in a further five top-flight matches.

Boss Kieran McKenna will be hoping to lead his team back to the first tier in 2025-26, and the addition of the Napoli midfielder would be a welcome boost.

Besiktas were thought to be keen on completing a deal for the 25-year-old, but the transfer has fallen through despite their strong interest.

Transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano has claimed that while Ipswich have agreed a deal with Napoli for the midfielder, the player still needs to give the green light to the switch.
