GMI, Morris & Spottiswood, Robertson, Tilbury Douglas and Wates are among 41 contractors to have secured a spot on a £200m, six-year university refurbishment framework.
The North Eastern Universities Purchasing Consortium (NEUPC) has awarded the framework to cover a wide range of upgrade and fit-out works across higher education buildings in England.
The agreement will run until June 2031 and is open to NEUPC members and affiliates.
The framework, which NEUPC put out to tender in December 2024, is split into four lots based on project value, with each lot further divided into regional sub-lots.
Lot one, covering projects worth up to £250,000, is divided between the North East, Yorkshire and the Humber, and the Midlands, with £30m in work split evenly across the three areas.
Works under the framework include the refurbishment of laboratories, lecture theatres, libraries, plant rooms, kitchens, accommodation blocks and offices.
Projects may involve buildings of varying age and condition, including heritage and listed sites.
The open-procurement framework is intended to offer universities a compliant route to market for small, medium and complex schemes.
It is open to small and medium-sized enterprises but excludes voluntary and community sector firms.
Individual projects will be awarded through further competition, with all named suppliers eligible to bid.
