Officers were dispatched to the intersection of 6th Avenue North and Smith Street shortly after 5:30 a.m. on July 31, according to the Regina Police Service (RPS).

“When they arrived, they found a vehicle that appeared to have collided with a power pole and then rolled,” stated a news release issued later that day. “A 13-year-old victim, who was a passenger in the vehicle, was declared deceased on scene.”

Officers with the RPS Investigative Collision Analysis Reconstruction Team (ICART) were called to the scene, added the release, which also noted at the time that the investigation was ongoing.
