Italy’s wildfire damage ‘already worse’ than last year as more warnings issued

Wildfires continue to ravage Italy this summer, with more alerts issued in hard-hit areas of the south on Wednesday amid heatwave conditions.

We have been told by our Italian neighbours that some pilots organised fires so they get paid, as they only get paid when they fly. I really hope that is not true and just an urban myth.

It is ABSOLUTELY VERY important to acknowledge the part that climate change plays in wildfires but it is also VERY important to acknowledge the fact that many fires are deliberately started in Italy, being it due to corruption or change of land use… or people throwing their cigarettes out of cars for that matter! There should be more information and assistance provided to individuals to make smarter choices!
