Entertainment

Whew, Roomies — some things in this industry don’t come with glitz and glam, and Kid Cudi just gave us a front-row seat to one of them. The rapper-actor, who usually keeps it lowkey and focused on his art, found himself in the middle of one of the biggest scandals in entertainment — the case against Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs. And, while he didn’t want any parts of the trial at first, it turns out his decision to take the stand came from a deeply personal place.

Kid Cudi Reflects On Testifying Against Diddy

In a recent episode of the ‘Call Her Daddy’ podcast on Wednesday, Aug. 13, Kid Cudi reflected on being called to testify against Combs back in May. “I hated every minute of it,” he said bluntly, recalling how he was approached multiple times before finally being subpoenaed. “I was there because I had to be. At first they asked, I said no. They asked again, I said no. Then I got subpoenaed and I was like, ‘F—. S––. No.’” Despite all of that, Cudi made it clear he showed up for one reason — to support his ex, Cassie.

Where Does His Relationship With Cassie Stand?

Kid Cudi didn’t just speak about taking the stand in the trial — he also opened up about where things stand between him and his former flame today. While their romance was brief, he made it clear that the opportunity to testify became less about courtrooms and more about standing in support of someone he still cares for.

“I thought about, when I was up there, ‘I’m here to support Cassie,’” Cudi shared. “And, Cassie is my friend and I love her and I want to see her do well. When I saw her get married, I was so happy that she found someone, her person. When I saw that she was having kids, I was like, ‘Oh, this is so awesome.’ I’ve always just wanted to see her thrive and do well and be happy, ‘cause I know she was living a nightmare.”

And, when asked about what gave him peace with testifying, Cudi revealed:

“I was just there to support her. That’s what kind of gave me peace with it,” he said. “When I saw down in that chair, it was just about, ‘Damn, I don’t want to do this’ to being like, ‘Oh man, I gotta hold homegirl down and look out for her.’”

Social Media Reacts

Fans wasted no time flooding the ‘Call Her Daddy’ Instagram comment section, giving Kid Cudi his well-earned flowers. Many praised how solid and loyal he came across, especially as he got visibly emotional while recalling the experience. Others pointed out how lucky Cassie is to have someone like him in her corner.

One Instagram user @haydenncurryy said, “So vulnerable and powerful… thank you Scott and Alex!! ????????”
