Nate Newton played offensive guard for the Dallas Cowboys from 1986 to 1998, becoming a key member of the dominant offensive line that powered the team’s dynasty in the 1990s. Originally undrafted and cut by the Washington Redskins, Newton found a home in Dallas, where his size and strength helped pave the way for Emmitt Smith’s record-setting career. A six-time Pro Bowler and two-time All-Pro, Newton started in three Super Bowl victories (XXVII, XXVIII, XXX) and was a vocal leader on and off the field, known for his energy and personality.

Best known for:
Newton was best known for being a cornerstone of the Cowboys’ legendary offensive line, helping protect Troy Aikman and open up rushing lanes for Emmitt Smith during their Super Bowl runs.

Lesser known fact:
Before making his mark in the NFL, Newton played for the Tampa Bay Bandits of the USFL. The now-defunct spring league helped develop Newton’s skills that would later make him one of the most dominant guards of his era.
