Gov Alia’s Synergy With FG Would End Insecurity In Benue – Lower Benue MD

June 20, (THEWILL) – The Managing Director of Lower Benue River Basin Development Authority, Engr Terese Ninga, has expressed the hope that Governor Hyacinth Alia’s working synergy with President Bola Tinubu would soon bring to an end insecurity bedevilling Benue State at the moment.

Speaking against the backdrop of the killings in Yelwata community by invading armed herdsmen last Friday, Engr Ninga encouraged Governor Alia to remain focused on the discharge of his duties even in the wake of the confusion.

While condemning the unprovoked attack, he also encouraged the governor to put his trust in God for a lasting solution, noting that Benue people are satisfied with the steps taken, especially the visit of President Tinubu and directives to security forces to act decisively.

Reacting to the attack, former member of the House of Representatives, Emmanuel Jime, called for decisive action to end killings in the state, saying his family members are scattered all over various Internally Displaced Camps within Makurdi, the state capital.

The APC chieftain, while describing the Invasion and killing as a massacre and genocide, however, hailed President Tinubu’s visit to the state and directives to security forces to tackle insecurity headlong.

According to him, the Nigerian armed forces have the capacity to restore peace, and commended Governor Alia for his proactive engagement with the presidency and reiterated that the governor’s developmental agenda will only thrive when security is restored.

Chairman of Kwande Local Government Council, Mr Vitalis Neji, on his part, described President Tinubu’s visit to Benue as timely and reassuring, noting that the show of concern offers a renewed sense of hope in places like Kwande, which have witnessed repeated attacks.

The Council chairman, who expressed appreciation to Governor Alia for his continuous collaboration with the federal authorities in tackling insecurity in the state, pointed out that Kwande, which shares a boundary with restive communities, has been a victim of violence and deserves federal government attention.
