Super Eagles and Napoli forward, Victor James Osimhen, is edging closer to a move to Turkish side, Galatasaray, Soccernet.ng reports.

However, his future could be away from Istanbul as another English Premier League club are considering making a bid for the 2023 CAF Player of the Year.

Osimhen has been linked with a move to Chelsea, Arsenal, Manchester United and Liverpool. The Blues have gone to sign Joao Pedro and Liam Delap, while Arsenal and Liverpool are prioritising moves for Viktor Gyokeres and Hugo Ekitike, respectively.

As per Daily Star, Newcastle United have identified Victor Osimhen and Darwin Nunez as potential transfer targets, following their withdrawal from the race to sign Hugo Ekitike who’s primed for a move to Liverpool.

The French forward is keen on a move to Anfield as well. Arne Slot’s side are prepared to meet Frankfurt’s €100m (£85m) asking price after agreeing personal terms with the 23-year-old.

Newcastle United initially tabled a €80m (£69m) bid for the Ekitike, but Frankfurt rejected the bid. Eddie Howe’s side plan to pair two strikers in attack next season.

With Callum Wilson no longer at the club, the Magpies are looking to bring an another forward, but they’re in the race against time to sign Osimhen as Galatasaray want the deal wrapped up as soon as possible.

Liverpool on the other hand, are looking to part ways with Nunez before bringing in another striker, and possibly, a winger, as Luis Diaz has already submitted a transfer request.

It is highly unlikely Osimhen will join Newcastle United as he prefers playing as a lone striker, although he formed a decent partnership with Mauro Icardi in his loan spell at Galatasaray.

Still, all of this could change as the Super Eagles star harbours dreams of playing in the English Premier League.
