The winners of the Construction News Awards 2025 have been announced at a dazzling ceremony in London’s Mayfair.
On Thursday evening (10 July), comedian Stephen Mangan conducted proceedings in the glitzy ballroom of the JW Marriott Grosvenor House hotel – where more than 1,200 clients, contractors and suppliers celebrated outstanding work across the construction sector.
Large and small teams and projects from across the UK were recognised, as 23 awards were handed out across an array of categories. The ceremony marked the culmination of work from a panel of 75 judges, including big-name directors from across the industry, who whittled down a total of 523 entries.
The coveted Contractor of the Year (turnover over £500m) trophy was won by Mace for the sixth year in a row, with judges highlighting how the contractor “combined delivery excellence with a deep commitment to sustainability, digital innovation and workforce development”.
Careys picked up the Contractor of the Year (turnover under £500m) award. Judges said the firm “stood out for its breadth of innovation – both onsite and across the business”.
This year, there were no outright multiple winners, although Eave won the Supply Chain Collaboration Excellence award jointly with Morgan Sindall for their partnership at Beckton Depot, to go with its Best Use of Technology trophy for the Eaveolution range of health and safety digital tools.
Murphy won in the Training Excellence category for its Development for All programme, and its joint venture with Hochtief picked up the Health, Safety and Wellbeing Excellence (Company) award for their One Team, One Spirit initiative.
KpH Deconstruction Services also had two reasons to celebrate. It won the Carbon Reduction Champion award for its work to address embedded carbon, and managing director Lyndsey West was recognised as Construction Leader of the Year.
Judges praised her “outstanding willingness to challenge the status quo in a conservative sector”.
Lavinia Toma of Keltbray was awarded the Rising Star accolade for her contribution to workplace health, safety and wellbeing.
She “is delivering genuine impact in her role and has a very bright future”, judges said.
The Specialist Contractor of the Year award went to McGee, with judges praising the firm for its “unrelenting focus on delivering sustainable solutions”.
“The past year has brought forward exceptional achievements – from impressive projects and innovative technologies to deeper commitments to sustainability,” said CN editor Colin Marrs.
“The CN Awards continues its mission to spotlight and celebrate the outstanding individuals, teams and projects that energise and advance our sector.”
