HG Construction has secured its first project in Birmingham after the contractor was appointed by Fusion Group to deliver a 622-bed student accommodation scheme.
The development, located on Bristol Road, will comprise four blocks ranging from eight to 17 storeys. Amenities include landscaped outdoor areas, a basketball court, a two-storey gym, a yoga studio, and a wellness zone.
HG Construction did not disclose the value of the contract in a statement today (8 July).
The purpose-built student accommodation (PBSA) project marks expansion for HG Construction, which has grown its national footprint to include Leeds, Manchester and Newcastle-upon-Tyne over the past four years.
The contractor is active across the residential, hotel, retirement living and commercial sectors.
Fusion Group is the client on the scheme. The architect is Corstorphine & Wright.
The Bristol Road scheme is intended to meet demand for high-quality student housing with wellness-focused amenities and good access to Birmingham’s universities.
HG Construction chief executive Adam Quinn said the scheme was “an important milestone” for the firm’s national growth and would be delivered with a “commitment to quality, sustainability and collaboration”.
Fusion Group group construction director Paul Miles said Birmingham was “vital” to the firm’s long-term growth strategy and described £387m-turnover HG as a “strong partner” for delivering complex purpose-built student accommodation.
