Gueye signs new Everton contract

Everton have kept hold of key player Idrissa Gueye for another season.

The midfielder will remain with the Premier League club until June 2026, and has an option for a further year, too.

Gueye was impressive in the 2024-25 season, winning the club’s Player of the Season award along with the Players’ Player of the Season.

He won the joint-most tackles (80) in the Premier League last season and made 48 interceptions, ranked 10th-highest.

The Senegal international has made 211 appearances so far for the Toffees across two spells. He first joined the club in 2016 from Aston Villa before returning in 2022 after three years with Paris Saint-Germain.

Gueye told the Everton website: “Everyone knows what Everton means to me and my family. After six seasons here, this club is more than just a place I play, it’s part of who I am.

“I’m proud to start my seventh year as a Blue. Last season was a strong one for me personally, and I feel ready, fresh, and more driven than ever to keep pushing.

“With our beautiful new stadium and a real sense of momentum throughout the Club, this season feels like a turning point, the chance to build something big and lasting.

“We’ve got the foundations. Now it’s up to us: players, staff, the manager, the board, and most importantly, our fans, to come together so we can raise the bar again and take Everton back to where it belongs.

“I’m fully committed to that challenge. Let’s go again. Together.”

Defender Michael Keane also signed a new one-year contract with Everton, seeing him prepare for his ninth season with the club.

Everton manager David Moyes said: “We are pleased Michael has agreed to stay with us. His performances at Fulham and Newcastle at the end of last season showed the value he can bring to our squad. We will need his experience and professionalism as we go forward.”
