Anambra to designate new Government House tourist site

The Anambra Government said the rejuvenated Government House will soon be designated a tourist Site, to encourage the residents to visit the edifice.

Dr Onyekachukwu Ibezim, the state’s Deputy Governor, said this when he received some Anambra-born artistes who were on tour of some projects executed by Gov Chukwu Soludo on Thursday.

The artistes included popular rapper, Okechukwu Emmanuel, known as slow-dog, and renowned flutist Chinemeze Chijioke, popularly known as Ojadiligbo.

Ibezim said Government House, known as Lighthouse, belonged to the people of the state and was open to anyone who wished to visit and appreciate the jinx-breaking project, which would revolutionalise governance service delivery.

He commended the artists for their courage to tour some of the project sites with the aim of verifying some of what they had heard themselves, while urging them to go and spread the good news of Soludo’s transformative works.

“We are considering designating this Lighthouse to a tourist centre, this is the House of Anambra people, they are free to come and see it, just as you have done.

“Before now, the Anambra government has been operating from prefab buildings in a construction yard since creation and nobody thought it wise to give the state an office that is befitting.

“Now that you have seen, you will agree with me that Anambra is in good hands, so help us to spread the good news,” he said.

In their responses, Ojadiligbo and Slowdog applauded Soludo for building the Solution Fun-City, which they described as a new entertainment hub.

They said infrastructure was important to foster local talent and reduce the need to seek opportunities outside the Southeast.

They called on businessmen from Anambra and other parts of Nigeria to invest in Anambra as the state was on the pedestal for sustainable development.

Slow dog said, “I no longer need to travel outside Anambra to have good fun.

“We want to commend Soludo for his commitment to promoting cultural and economic growth through strategic investments in infrastructure,” he said.

The visitors were guided on the tour by Mr Chinedu Obigwe, National Coordinator of APGA Media Warriors.
