Ondo State Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa has disassociated himself from the recent shake-up in the State House of Assembly, which saw the resignation of Deputy Speaker Rt. Hon. Abayomi Akinruntan and the stepping down of Majority Leader Hon. Oluwole Ogunmolasuyi.
Amid growing speculation that the leadership changes were orchestrated by the governor as political payback for the lawmakers’ roles in his attempted impeachment, Aiyedatiwa firmly denied any involvement.
Addressing the issue while presenting a fleet of Toyota Hilux vehicles to security agencies in the state, Aiyedatiwa said, “Nothing is permanent. Society evolves. The House is making adjustments—that’s their business, not mine. As long as there’s peace and the House functions smoothly, I have no issues.”
Speaker of the Assembly, Rt. Hon. Olamide Oladiji, also stepped in to clarify that the leadership adjustments were made to reflect the state’s informal political balancing arrangements—not due to executive interference.
Meanwhile, the governor used the occasion to reaffirm his administration’s commitment to the safety of lives and property in Ondo State. The operational vehicles, he said, would enhance the capacity of security agencies to respond swiftly to emergencies and threats.
“This event highlights our determination to strengthen security infrastructure across the state,” Aiyedatiwa stated. “It’s both our constitutional duty and a gesture of appreciation for the sacrifices made by our security personnel.”
The vehicle presentation is a continuation of the administration’s July 2024 initiative, during which 25 Hilux trucks were distributed to law enforcement agencies.
Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Dr. Taiwo Fasoranti, emphasized the administration’s dedication to maintaining law and order, while military and police commanders present at the event praised the government for its support and pledged to use the vehicles efficiently.
According to the commanders, the new logistics support will significantly boost their mobility and operational readiness across the state.
