Spain and Belgium will lock horns with each other at the UEFA Women’s Euro 2025 next week. The Group B match between Montserrat Tome’s team and Elísabet Gunnarsdóttir’s side will be held at Stadion Wankdorf in Bern and is scheduled to kick off at 5pm UK time next Monday.

Spain

Spain are a footballing superpower, both in the men’s game and in the women’s game. La Roja are the reigning world champions, winning the title in 2023. Spain also won the first edition of the UEFA Women’s Nations League in 2024, becoming the first nation to win both women’s and men’s competitions.

Montserrat Tom’s side are one of the favourites to win the UEFA Women’s Euro 2025 finals. Spain kicked off their Group B campaign with a 5-0 hammering of Portugal at Stadion Wankdorf in Bern.

Team News:

Spain are likely to line up in a 4-3-3 formation. Adriana Nanclares will be in goal for Montserrat Tome’s side. Ona Batlle, Maria Mendez, Laia Aleixandri and Olga Carmona will be the four defenders. Vicky Lopez, Patricia Guijarro and Alexia Putellas will be the three midfielders. Mariona Caldentey, Esther Gonzalez and Claudia Pina will be the three forwards.

Belgium

While the Belgium’s men team are a force to be reckoned with, the women’s side have much to improve on. The Belgian Red Flames are not expected to do much of note, but they will be determined to do well at the UEFA Women’s Nations League finals.

Belgium kicked off their UEFA Women’s Nations League Group B with a 1-0 defeat to Italy at Stade de Tourbillon in Sion. Arianna Caruso’s goal in the 44th minute proved to be the difference between the two sides.

Team News:

Belgium are likely to line up in a 5-3-2 formation. Lisa Lichtfus will be in goal. Amber Tysiak, Sari Kees and Janice Cayman will be the three centre-backs, with Jill Janssens and Laura Deloose the two wing-backs. Mariam Toloba, Justine Vanhaevermaet and Jarne Teulings will be the three midfielders. Hannah Eurlings and Tessa Wullaert will be the two centre-forwards.

Key Factors to Consider

  • Spain had 67% of the possession against Portugal.
  • Spain had 23 shots against Portugal.
  • Spain made 76 attacking moves against Portugal.
  • Belgium had 53% of the possession against Italy.
  • Belgium made 44 attacking moves against Italy.

Conclusion

Spain are a better team than against Belgium and should be able to pick up all three points from the UEFA Euro 2025 game.
