Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) has chosen Byrne Group subsidiary FB Ellmer to rebuild a stand at the iconic Lord’s cricket ground.

The project, part of a wider £200m wider redevelopment of the ground, will see the Allen Stand rebuilt.

MCC originally appointed Graham last year to carry out the work as part of a £60m redevelopment of one corner of the ground, which would also have seen the Tavern Stand rebuilt.

It is understood MCC has appointed Byrne Group subsidiary FB Ellmer on a limited preconstruction services agreement (PCSA).

MCC has written to members asking them to approve the move at a special general meeting on 21 July.

If approved, the PSCA will be superseded by the signing of a contract with Ellmer, Construction News understands.

The Allen Stand project is phase one of the Tavern and Allen Stands Project, which received planning consent last year.

The work will see the stand’s capacity increased by 190 to 806 along and will include bars and washrooms at every level.

MCC is looking to have the work completed in time for the 2027 Ashes.

It has previously said Lord’s will remain fully operational throughout the project.

The Bryne Group was ranked 84th in the 2024 CN100 with a turnover of £191m.
