IT WAS business as usual for both Kedah and Perak DAP leaders as the same leadership was re-elected by their respective branches at the annual general meetings held over the weekend.

In Kedah, former Derga assemblyman Tan Kok Yeow was re-elected for a third term as the state DAP chairperson. Tan, a lawyer, was also the first DAP leader to serve as a state executive councillor when the party was part of the Pakatan Harapan-led state government from 2018 to 2020.

Tan is supported by businessman Mad Ganu Ismail, while Kota Darul Aman assemblyman Teh Swee Leong has been appointed the movement’s secretary.

In Perak, Housing and Local Government Minister Nga Kor Ming solidified his position in the state by retaining the chairmanship. Nga is now the undisputed DAP leader in Perak, having successfully held off any challenges.

Veterans such as Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department M. Kulasegaran and lawyer Thomas Su chose not to contest.

DAP secretary-general Anthony Loke Siew Fook, who is also the Transport Minister, officiated at both events. Former Human Resources Minister V. Sivakumar was appointed as Nga’s deputy.
