Jide Kene to make film production debut with ‘City of Dreams’ in Enugu

Jide Kene, the Nollywood actor, is set to make his debut as a filmmaker with a new television series titled ‘City of Dreams’, which will be shot in his home state, Enugu.

Peter Mbah, Enugu governor, shared the news via social media after receiving the actor on a courtesy visit.

In the post, the governor praised the project as a powerful tribute to the beauty, culture, and creative spirit of Enugu.

“Yesterday, I had the pleajide Kene, thesure of receiving the Nollywood celebrated actor and movie producer, Jide Kene Achufusi, popularly known as Swanky JKA, @iamjidekene , as he paid a courtesy visit to discuss his upcoming movie series,” he wrote.

“City of Dreams is not just a film; it is a tribute to Enugu, the most beautiful city in Nigeria.”

He also described Kene as a “shining example” of the immense talent emerging from the state and pledged his full support for this project.

“I fully endorse this project and pledge the support of the Enugu State Government, not just to Jide Kene, but to all young creatives who are working to take our stories to the global stage,” he added.

Kene began his acting career by playing supporting roles in Nollywood films such as ‘Poka Messiah’, ‘Black Rose’, and ‘Pretty Little Thing’,

He is best known for his portrayal of Nnamdi Okeke in ‘Living in Bondage: Breaking Free’, as well as Chidi in ‘Kambili: The Whole 30 Yards’. He won the Trailblazer award at the 2020 Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA).
