Manchester Airports Group (MAG) has launched a £600m procurement exercise to establish a new framework for delivering a wide range of construction projects across its three UK airports.
The Small to Medium Construction Works Framework will be used to procure contractors for building, civil engineering, and mechanical and electrical works at Manchester, East Midlands and Stansted airports.
The framework will run for an initial period of five years, with the option to extend for a further three years, taking it to 2033.
The framework is split into nine lots, with each airport allocated separate lots for building, civils, and mechanical and electrical (M&E) work.
The contract notice confirms that individual projects will not exceed £5m in value and will include both airside and landside activities. Procurement will follow a design-and-build route, with work packages including new build, refurbishment and fit-out schemes.
Building lots include work in terminal buildings, office areas and commercial spaces.
Civil engineering works will involve roads, bridges, utilities, water supply projects and drainage infrastructure.
The M&E lots cover electrical, plumbing and gas systems, along with inspection and testing services. All work will be delivered in line with the operational constraints of busy airport environments.
Manchester Airport accounts for the highest forecast spend, with £124.2m earmarked for building works and £118.7m for civils.
Stansted follows with £110.7m and £105.8m for the same disciplines, while East Midlands will see a combined £68.6m allocated across its building and civils lots. M&E work across all three airports is valued at a combined £72m.
The estimated total value of the framework is £600m including VAT (£500m excluding VAT).
MAG has confirmed there will be no cap on the number of suppliers appointed to each lot.
Call-offs may be made with or without further competition, offering flexibility across the group’s diverse pipeline of projects. No supplier fees will be charged to participate in the framework.
Interested firms must register on MAG’s procurement portal and submit a request to participate by 18 July.
Prequalification documents will be issued via the SAP Ariba platform. The award date is scheduled for December 2025, with contracts expected to commence from the end of that year.
