Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen has earned yet another accolade following a sensational debut campaign in Turkey, as his spectacular overhead kick against Antalyaspor has been voted the Goal of the Season in the Turkish Super Lig, Soccernet.ng reports.

The 26-year-old forward enjoyed a prolific season on loan at Galatasaray from Napoli, scoring 26 league goals and providing five assists to finish as the league’s undisputed top scorer. His exploits powered Galatasaray to a record-extending 25th Turkish Super Lig title.

Among his many memorable moments, it was Osimhen’s outrageous overhead kick in the 3-0 away victory at Antalyaspor in October that captured the imagination of fans and earned the Turkish top-flight’s most beautiful goal award for the 2024–25 campaign.

The goal came deep into stoppage time, with Galatasaray already two goals ahead thanks to a Mauro Icardi brace. From a right-wing freekick, the ball was floated into the penalty area.

Osimhen, showing sharp awareness, evaded his marker — who attempted to block him using his body — and executed a stunning overhead kick with his back to goal. The ball flew into the top corner, leaving the goalkeeper helpless and sealing a remarkable moment of individual brilliance.

At the time, it was only Osimhen’s third goal of the season, having joined Galatasaray a few weeks into the campaign. He would go on to torment Antalyaspor again in the reverse fixture in Istanbul, where he netted a hat-trick in a 4-0 victory — his only treble of the league season.

Osimhen’s contributions weren’t limited to league action. He scored six goals in the Europa League and five in the Turkish Cup, finishing the season with a staggering 37 goals and eight assists in 41 appearances across all competitions. He also played a decisive role in Galatasaray’s Turkish Cup triumph, scoring twice in the 3-0 win over Trabzonspor in the final.

In recognition of his outstanding season, Osimhen was crowned Galatasaray’s Player of the Season. He also made history by becoming the first Nigerian to win the Turkish Super Lig Golden Boot.
