Nineteen specialist contractors have been appointed to a £265m framework for modular buildings launched by the LHC Procurement Group (LHCPG).

The Modular Buildings (MB3) framework covers the design, delivery, hire and refurbishment of temporary and permanent modular units for use in education, healthcare, defence and community buildings.

It replaces the MB2 framework, which facilitated £76m of work.

MB3 will run until May 2029 and is available to clients through LHCPG’s five regional business units: LHC, Scottish Procurement Alliance, Welsh Procurement Alliance, Northern Procurement Alliance and South West Procurement Alliance.

The framework is divided into four workstreams:

  • Permanent modular buildings
  • Healthcare buildings
  • Hire of temporary buildings
  • Refurbished buildings

All suppliers underwent an evaluation process including factory assessments across the UK and Ireland.

LHCPG group chief executive Clive Feeney said MB3 would support suppliers in delivering and reporting on the social value of projects, in line with the organisation’s standard approach. He added that the framework would help public sector clients access modern methods of construction to reduce site disruption and carbon emissions.

The framework is designed to encourage SME participation and increase supply chain resilience. It focuses on offsite manufacture to improve quality control and reduce delivery times.

MB3 was developed with support from LHCPG’s technical team and aims to meet growing demand for flexible and sustainable modular solutions.
