Diaz insists ´I´m very happy´ as Liverpool reject Barca approach

Soccer

Liverpool have reportedly rejected an approach from Barcelona for Luis Diaz, who insisted “I’m very happy” at Anfield.

The Colombia international has won four major honours with the Reds since arriving from Portuguese giants Porto in January 2022, including last season’s Premier League title.

Diaz scored 13 goals – a tally only bettered by Mohamed Salah (29) among his team-mates – as Liverpool claimed their 20th domestic crown by a 10-point margin.

The 28-year-old had attracted interest from Manchester City and the Saudi Pro League, while LaLiga champions, Barca, were also keen on acquiring his services.

However, the Reds have reportedly claimed Diaz is not for sale, with the winger hoping he can remain at the club.

“I’m very happy at Liverpool – I’ve always said so,” he said. “They’ve welcomed me very well.

“The transfer market is opening, and we’re trying to arrange what’s best for us. I’m waiting to see what happens.

“If Liverpool gives us a good extension, or I have to see out my two-year contract, I’ll be happy. It all depends on them. I’m here to decide and see what’s best for us and the future.”

Diaz has registered 44 direct goal involvements (29 goals, 15 assists) since joining in January 2022, with only Salah registering more in the Premier League among Liverpool players during that time (117; 73 goals, 34 assists).
