Home run

A PS5 Trophy list for the iconic Microsoft Windows CD-ROM sports game Backyard Baseball ’97 has hit Sony’s servers.
The arcade baseball outing – the first in a long-running line of simplistic sports games from Humongous Entertainment – originally launched in 1997, and defined an entire generation due to its vibrant presentation and accessible gameplay.
Playground Productions announced last year that it had reacquired the rights to the Backyard Sports series after ex-NFL centre Jason Kelce had generated renewed interest in the brand by mentioning it on a podcast.
The team subsequently ported the original to Steam, and always had plans to bring it to the PS5. Now it looks like a release date is imminent as the Trophies have appeared on Sony’s servers.
Digital pots on the path to the Platinum include hitting 250 home runs, striking out 10 batters, and winning the Super Entire Nation Tournament. None of these should prove too much of a challenge for protagonist Pablo Sanchez and his pals.
This re-release is meant to mark the start of a new line of Backyard Sports games, so if you’re interested in more like this, you may want to pick up this re-release on PS5 to show your interest.
