An annual fundraiser by the Windsor Regional Hospital Foundation that asks residents to sport wacky and wonderful headwear has raised more than $50,000 so far — only half of its goal.

With a few days left in the 16th annual Hats on for Healthcare campaign, the charitable organization is encouraging folks to donate what they can to support patient care in the region.

Since its inception, Hats on for Healthcare has raised more than $650,000 for programs and services at Windsor Regional Hospital.

This year, the campaign will support the hospital’s cardiology program.

“It’s an area of growing need in our community,” Weeres said. “All of the funds raised this year will help purchase equipment for cardiology.
