There’s been a big departure from the team at Obsidian Entertainment, with Avowed game director Carrie Patel announcing on LinkedIn that she’s now joined Night School: A Netflix Game Studio has of this month.

Patel had been at Obsidian for 11 years and 7 months, contributing to not only Avowed, but also The Outer Worlds (as a senior narrative designer) and both Pillars of Eternity games as a narrative designer.

Earlier today, she simply stated that she was happy to announce her new position at Netflix:

“I’m happy to share that I’m starting a new position as Game Director at Night School: A Netflix Game Studio!”

Night School, as you may be aware, was responsible for the two Oxenfree games as well as Afterparty, and originally started life as an independent studio before being acquired by Netflix in September of 2021.

It remains to be seen what Patel will be working on at Night School, but we’re certainly intrigued to see what the dev team comes up with next! On behalf of everyone at Pure Xbox, we wish her nothing but the best for this new role.

If you’re interested, there’s a great interview with Carrie courtesy of the Xbox Expansion Pass podcast below:
