The City of London Corporation has announced plans to procure a contractor for the main construction works on a new tactical firearms training facility for the City of London Police.

A two-stage design-and-build procurement process is expected to begin in July 2026, with the appointment of a main contractor set for August 2027. The pre-construction services agreement is scheduled to run from November 2026 to April 2027, ahead of an anticipated start on site in August 2027. Completion is expected by October 2028.

The scheme will deliver 6,137 square metres of facilities, including a firing range, classrooms, skills house, secure storage, parking and offices.

Modular construction methods are planned as part of the works, according to a pipeline notice from the Corporation, released today (14 May).

The estimated value of the main contract is £16.5m excluding VAT, rising to £19.8m with VAT.

Although the pipeline notice confirms a procurement strategy, it is not a call for competition and no tender documents have been issued.

The Corporation has signalled that the scheme will be open to bids from small and medium-sized enterprises.
