Ademola Lookman: Super Eagles star to play against Roma despite injury fears

Soccer

Super Eagles forward Ademola Lookman is expected to play for Atalanta when they welcome Roma to the Gewiss Stadium on Monday, Soccernet.ng reports.

There have been fears over the 28-year-old winger’s availability for Atalanta’s crucial clash against Roma on Monday, as he has been dealing with an Achilles tendon issue in his right foot.

Lookman has been a potent attacker for La Dea this season, contributing 19 goals and seven assists, and it would be a big blow for them if he misses the game.

Atalanta currently sit third in the Serie A, with 68 points after 35 games, and a win for them would seal their place in next season’s UEFA Champions League. As such, they need all their best legs available.

Ahead of the game, L’eco di Bergamo has revealed that Lookman is in line to start from Atalanta, as he trained with the first team on Sunday.

This is great for coach Gian Pero Gasperini, as Giorgio Scalvini, Juan Cuadrado, Isak Hien, and Sead Kolasinac are all absent for the game.

Soccer Can Ademola Lookman produce the magic that Atalanta need to defeat Roma?

The Giallorossi are one of the top teams in Italy, and they’ve been in great form recently. Roma have lost just one of their last sixteen games. However, Atalanta have dominated the fixture, winning four of the last five.

This season, La Dea’s main outlets have been Ademola Lookman, Mateo Retegui, and Charles De Ketelaere. All three of them were involved in at least one of Atalanta’s four goals against Monza last week. So you can’t bet against any of them getting amongst the goals on Monday.

However, Lookman has never scored against Roma in three tries. Still, Lookman knows how to turn up when the ovation is loudest. If he plays, he has a good shot at rattling the net.
