WATCH: One Gorilla vs 100 humans? Iwobi and Calvin Bassey weigh in

Soccer

Super Eagles and Fulham stars, Alex Iwobi and Calvin Bassey, have joined Brighton duo, Lewis Dunk and Danny Welbeck, in sharing their thoughts about a viral question on social media, Soccernet.ng reports.

In the past week, a random post garnered traction of over 10 million views on X (formerly called Twitter). The post raised a question, asking who people thought would win in a fight between 100 humans and a silverback gorilla.

It appears the trend has entered the football world, as several Chelsea players were seen debating the issue before their Conference League semi-final against Djurgården.

In a video posted by the official Premier League account, Bassey, Iwobi, Welbeck and Dunk aired their thoughts.

“One gorilla wins. If it’s just normal guys, it’s that gorilla. Without a doubt, we’re done. The gorilla will rip us apart. Listen, with the silverback, all of humanity is finished.” – Calvin Bassey.

“It depends on who the humans are. Normal humans? Is Anthony Joshua normal? If it’s us, we’re done. I can’t lie, we’ve got no chance.” – Alex Iwobi.

“The gorilla’s winning. Someone has to get close to it, but I’m not doing all that. With the strength that the gorilla has, no way. I’m not fighting any gorilla.” – Danny Welbeck

“Surely, the gorilla wins. You can hear it, literally, but I’m not getting into the fight first.”  – Lewis Dunk

Soccer What’s so special about the Silverback Gorilla?

Silverback Gorillas are the largest primates on earth. After bonobos and chimpanzees, gorillas are the closest relatives to humans, as their DNA has a 98% similarity to that of humans.

They can weigh up to 270 kilogrammes while the average human weighs 62 kilogrammes. They are over nine times stronger than an adult male. Their body weight and incredible strength is built from their higher ratio of muscle mass.

Based on size and muscle mass alone, it is doubtful a silverback can’t knock a hundred humans out in a fight. However, it’ll cause a huge dent amongst the opponents.

Mostly, Gorillas are peaceful and rarely use force. They only get aggressive when they encounter threats, intruders or if they want to assert territorial dominance against other groups.
