Health authorities are investigating an imported case of measles involving a 38-year-old man who returned from Vietnam and visited the Hong Kong Sports Institute last month.
The Centre for Health Protection on Saturday revealed the case of the patient, who had diarrhoea on February 22 and developed a rash three days later.
He sought medical treatment at Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Yau Ma Tei on Wednesday and was admitted on the same day.
His clinical samples tested positive for measles virus nucleic acid, the centre said.
The patient was still in hospital and remained in a stable condition, while his household contacts were asymptomatic, it said.
The centre said it immediately launched an epidemiological investigation after being alerted to the case. The patient was found to have visited Vietnam during the incubation period between February 3 and 8.
