“It would mean everything” – Super Eagles star eyes league trophy despite outstanding personal record

Soccer

Super Eagles and KRC Genk forward, Toluwalase Emmanuel Arokadare, has his gaze fixed on winning the Jupiler Pro League despite his side’s recent slip in form, Soccernet.ng reports.

The 24-year-old has been in great goalscoring form for Thorsten Fink’s side this season, scoring 22 goals and providing five assists in 41 games across all competitions, drawing interest from Bayern Munich.

However, Genk have stumbled in their chase for the league title, winning just one of their last five games. They’re now third, three points behind league leaders, Union St. Gilloise.

Arokodare has hit a new high this season, scoring the most goals (in a single campaign) in his career, and making his Super Eagles debut. Still, the former FC Koln striker admits it’s the league title that’ll make all his personal achievements worth something at the end of the season.

“It feels great, honestly. I try not to overthink it — my main focus is winning the title. Scoring 20 goals is fantastic, but the aim is to win the top prize with this club.

“Winning the league would mean everything. This season, I’ve built a strong bond with the fans, and it would make me truly happy if we could reward them with the title,” the lanky forward said in quotes revealed by Sports Boom.

Quizzed about his future away from Genk, the ex-SC Amiens striker admitted he’d love to compete in the English Premier League.

“For the media noise, I just try to stay focused and keep a clear head. The future is unwritten, but like many players, it’s a dream of mine to one day play in the Premier League,” Arokodare concluded.

With four games left in the Belgian Pro League, Genk can still lift the league title, provided they win all of their remaining games.

Up next for Arokodare’s side is a trip to the Stade Joseph Mariën next Saturday as they lock horns with league leaders, Union St. Gilloise.
