Kompany ready for ´special night´ as Bayern Munich face San Siro second leg

Bayern Munich are ready for what could be a special night as they attempt to overcome a 2-1 first-leg deficit in the Champions League quarter-final away to Inter Milan on Wednesday, according to head coach Vincent Kompany.

The game, according to Kompany, is likely to come down to individual moments of brilliance and that there is a level of belief from his players that they will come out on top.

“Sometimes there are special nights, nights were a moment decides the game,” Kompany told a press conference. “In the last game we had our chances. Hopefully we will have our chances again tomorrow, maybe not as many.

“There’s an anticipation for this match, it feels proper. It’s the best team in Italy against the best team in Germany at the moment. The stadium is also one of the best there is. It doesn’t get much better.

“The quality and the talent are also there. The most important thing is that we deliver our best performance.”

“The belief is there, at the end of the day we just need to win one match. We always play to win. Hopefully we can experience a very special night, also for our fans.

“Everything plays a part: The quality of the opponents, our qualities. It’s not just about the opening minutes. It could go on for 90 or 120 minutes. It’s two teams with a lot of experience in Europe. Every player knows what it’s about.”
