A six-year-old girl was forced to stand in the snow for hours holding a demeaning sign telling passers-by she wanted to “stab and kill my brother” by her cruel dad and mum.

Stunned drivers called the police after spotting the young girl standing outside a home in Logansport, Indiana, clutching a large piece of cardboard. On it, written in blue inked handwriting, was: “I want to stab and kill my brother, I even take an antipsychotic. If you need to give pity, then give it to the victims.”

The girl had been told to stand outside the property by her parents, local policeman Cody Allen Scott, 33, and Kylie Jo Scott, 34, who were arrested after passers by happened on the distressing scene. Her dad, who responded to the report himself, claimed it was the only punishment that worked on her, and it was later discovered it wasn’t the first time he had employed the inhumane method.

The Daily Mail reports the initial incident was reported by locals who called 911 on January 19, after which it was found the girl had been forced to bring a demeaning sign to her school. A Howard County DCS caseworker told police the previous sign had read: “I pee on everything and cover it up like a cat.”

During another previous incident, her school reported that she was made to walk around Walmart carrying a sign that read: “I lie to hurt other people.” When she was found in January, the youngster was standing in a pair of crocs, a winter jacket, hat, gloves and pair of trousers in 18F (-7C) weather.

Her dad was called to attend the 911 report, was heard on his own body camera admitting that his daughter “comes out here every 30 minutes” before going “back inside every 10 minutes to warm back up”. The registered Republican can then be heard explaining that, bar physical abuse, he has “not done any other punishment that has worked for her”.

Kylie Jo Scott also claimed her daughter had violently threatened her brother

He tells a passer by asking why she was forced to stand outside: “Well sir, aside from me cruelly beating her physically, I’ve not done any other punishment that has worked for her. She’s threatened to kill my family, she wants to embarrass us, she wants to urinate on herself and destroy things in the house.

“I have a DCS caseworker involved, she’s been in therapy for three years, she also has the wrap around program at school. She goes in every 30 minutes to warm back up, she’s bundled up very warm and then she’ll come back out.” The claims were echoed by the girl’s mum, who told Indiana State Police she had threatened to cut and shoot her brother.

She also claimed the six-year-old had urinated on herself for attention, something police wrote in an affidavit was a result of her being forced to wait. Police ultimately reccomended criminal charges, writing in the document: “The affiant finds this form of discipline to be disproportionate to the offense and unnecessarily degrading.”

The parents were charged with two counts of neglect of a dependent, a level six felony, and pleaded not guilty. The two are set appear in court again on May 8 ahead of a September 22 trial.
