“He will announce” – Galatasaray vice president speaks on Victor Osimhen’s next club

Soccer

Galatasaray’s Vice President, Abdullah Kavukcu, has spoken about the future of Super Eagles striker, Victor Osimhen, hinting that the Nigerian could stay in Turkey beyond this summer, Soccernet.ng reports.

The former LOSC Lille striker joined the Turkish Champions on loan from Napoli in September. The move stunned many, as it was widely expected that Osimhen would make a big-money move to a club with a bigger stature.

However, his time in Galatasaray has been an enormous success. Okan Buruk’s side are poised to become league champions, while Osimhen has scored 28 goals and provided five assists in 32 games for the Cim Bom Aslan.

The Napoli loanee has been tipped by many to make a move to the English Premier League in the summer transfer window, and Galatasaray’s Vice President believes the Nigerian’s next club will be announced soon.

“Osimhen will announce his decision in April. At the moment, five of the world’s top clubs are interested in him. His arrival here was a dream – he came, and for now, he is playing with us. In January, there was talk of a transfer, but he stayed.

“He loves Galatasaray very much. Right now, he is the dream of all our rivals. Although we are focused on winning the title, we have not had direct discussions with Victor yet.

“There is no point in talking about it now. Galatasaray are a top-level club – if it weren’t, Victor wouldn’t have come. His stay at Galatasaray is not as impossible as it may seem,” Kavukcu said in quotes revealed by the Mirror.

In the meantime, the ex-VfL Wolfsburg man has remained mute about his future, maintaining he just wants to enjoy his football with Galatasaray.

“At the moment I don’t know. Until a few months ago, no one would have even thought about Galatasaray, and many even thought I would leave in January. I personally live for the moment.

“I don’t know what will happen in the summer, but I can say that I am in love with these fans. I love this club, the president, the staff—I love everyone associated with Galatasaray. For me, it is truly a privilege to be here, and I am enjoying this experience,” the 26-year-old said.

Osimhen has been linked with a move to Manchester United in recent weeks. However, it appears his wage demands have put Ruben Amorim’s side off as they look for cheaper alternatives.

As per ESPN, Osimhen’s salary demands could reach around £9.4 million a year after tax. With Manchester United looking to reduce their wage bill this summer, Liam Delap appears to be a more likely target due to the lower salary and transfer fee involved.

Chelsea, Arsenal, Liverpool, Nottingham Forest, and Paris Saint-Germain are still keen on the services of the 2023 CAF Player of the Year.
