Texas basketball under Sean Miller: Insiders release transfer portal news, 2025 recruits, roster, targets

Basketball

After moving on from Rodney Terry, Texas basketball officially hired Xavier’s Sean Miller in an effort to jump-start a program that went 6-12 in its first year in SEC play. Miller has been hard at work in his first week as he looks to shape the 2025-26 Texas basketball roster and make other key decisions. Miller will reportedly bring all of his assistant coaches from Xavier, though he is retaining Texas general manager Chris Ogden, a former coach who has deep ties in the Lone Star State.

The Texas basketball lineup movement has been relatively slow thus far, though it should pick up quickly with the college basketball transfer portal closing on April 22. Who are the top Texas basketball transfer portal targets, and what other key moves is Miller making to rebuild the Longhorns? Basketball Texas basketball roster news

Texas is expected to lose top scorer Tre Johnson to the NBA and second-leading scorer, forward Arthur Kaluma, is out of eligibility. Among players who could return, the only one who has announced his intention to leave thus far is forward Devon Pryor, who played just 12.1 minutes per game last season.

One player who has confirmed he’ll be back is freshman forward Nic Codie. He played sparingly in 2024-25, but with Texas set to lose every key member of the front court, the former top-100 recruit could step into a bigger role next season.

Xavier transfers Ryan Conwell and Daily Swain are among the former Miller players who the Longhorns could target. Horns247 also reports that Nevada forward Nick Davidson is on Miller’s radar. The 6-10, 238-pound big man averaged 15.8 points and 6.5 rebounds last season and would be a big boost at a position of need. Get the latest Texas basketball roster news at Horns247.
