Sokoto State Governor, Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto, has received the esteemed ‘Sun Newspaper Best Governor of The Year Award’ in recognition of his remarkable contributions to the state’s development. The award was presented during a vibrant ceremony at the Sun Newspaper Award Night held in Lagos.

The accolade was bestowed upon Gov. Aliyu by Orji Uzo Kalu, the founder of The Sun Newspaper, with the support of the APC National Chairman, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje. The Governor’s selection for this honor stems from his successful implementation of numerous developmental projects across various sectors, including security, road construction, housing, and the promotion of Islamic affairs, along with the provision of clean drinking water.

In addition to these initiatives, Gov. Aliyu has made significant strides in improving healthcare services and enhancing educational infrastructure, ensuring a conducive learning environment for students in Sokoto State. His efforts to revamp the agricultural sector have also aimed at achieving food sufficiency, while initiatives in environmental sanitation, urban renewal, social welfare, and youth empowerment have further strengthened the state’s economy.

At the same ceremony, APC leader in Sokoto State, Sen. Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko, was honored with ‘The Sun Newspaper Lifetime Achievement Award,’ recognizing his dedicated service to the state and his philanthropic efforts. He was represented by the Minister for State Works, Barrister Bello Goronyo.
