Americans Abroad Weekend Preview: Richards, Turner, Robinson, and more

Soccer

The FA Cup quarterfinals are upon us and a trio of U.S. men’s national team stars will face off in a highly-anticipated London Derby.

Chris Richards, Matt Turner and Crystal Palace make the trip to face Antonee Robinson and Fulham in the first of four quarterfinal ties this weekend. Richards has remained a regular starter in Oliver Glasner’s squad while Turner has mainly only featured in cup competitions this season.

Both players have been key in the Eagles reaching this stage of the competition and will aim to seal a trip to Wembley next April. Richards featured in one of the USMNT’s Nations League matches this month while Turner started against both Canada and Panama.

Robinson, who missed international duty in March, will aim to get back to form after a slight knock. The USMNT left back has been one of Fulham’s best performers this season and played a large role in the Cottagers’ road upset victory over Manchester United last round.

Elsewhere in England, Brenden Aaronson and Leeds United face Swansea City. Ethan Horvath and Cardiff City host Sheffield Wednesday.

In Germany, Gio Reyna Lennard Maloney and Mainz. Julian Green and Greuther Furth aim to get back on track against Schalke.

In France, Tanner Tessmann and Lyon take on Strasbourg.

In Italy, Christian Pulisic and AC Milan face off with Napoli. Kristoffer Lund and Palermo take on Salernitana.

Elsewhere, Alex Zendejas and Cade Cowell resume Liga MX action. George Bello and LASK kick off the Bundesliga relegation playoffs in Austria. Jonathan Tomkinson and Ross County take on Dundee United.
