Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim has already been asked about his plans for Thursday’s vital Europa League round-of-16 second leg against Real Sociedad.

It was hoped the Reds would come through the taxing Premier League clash with Arsenal unscathed but there was some natural concern when Leny Yoro failed to reappear for the second half, after receiving treatment during the opening period.

Amorim was asked about the young defender during his post-match press conference and also provided some positive news on Manuel Ugarte.

The Uruguay international was absent again for the battling 1-1 draw against the Gunners but is working hard to be available for Thursday’s 20:00 kick-off, with the tie level at 1-1 following the away leg in San Sebastian.

When asked if he expected any of his absentees to return against La Real, Ruben replied: “Maybe Ugarte, I don’t know, we’ll see.”

In a separate interview, Amorim was a little stronger on the South American’s fitness, saying: “I think Manu will return.”

Meanwhile, Yoro will obviously be assessed when the squad gets back to Carrington to prepare for the European tie.

“Leny, he has something in his foot,” he added. “I think. We’ll see if he’s available on Thursday.”

“We will be ready for Thursday,” Amorim also stated. “We have had to cope this week, we had three games. We came from Ipswich, when we played one half with one less man, extra-time with Fulham and then played in Spain with the travel.

“We played against Arsenal, who won 7-1 in the Champions League. We will be ready for Thursday.

“It’s going to be an important game for us.”
