Jurassic World Roars Into The Sandbox

Jurassic World, a replica of the Jurassic Park film, is joining the web3 gaming sector as an in-game event on the Ethereum metaverse game The Sandbox. Dubbed Jurassic World: Dinosaur Preserve, players will take the roles of employees of a dinosaur park. The game will join other popular films like The Terminator and The Smurfs as part of a new six-week season on The Sandbox, indicating a growing need by conventional entertainment brands to follow their fans into the blockchain world.

New Experiences and “Jurassic World-Inspired” Wearables

According to The Sandbox, Jurassic World will bring new experiences and offer gamers “Jurassic World-inspired” collectibles like wearables and playable characters. The Sandbox CEO Arthur Madrid said that Jurassic World offers a gamified experience, redefining “how fans want to interact with their favorite brands.”

Jurassic World players will join a group that performs tasks that ensure the park runs smoothly. Among the tasks include guarding dinosaur eggs until they hatch and taking care of the baby dinosaurs until adulthood.

The eggs can hatch either herbivorous or carnivorous dinosaurs. Herbivorous eggs are free, and carnivorous ones can be purchased. Both types of eggs are available as NFTs, and players earn points for performing various tasks in the park.

40 More Events and $1 Million up for Grabs

The game joins 40 other in-game events featured during The Sandbox Alpha Season 5. During the six-week season, players compete for more than 50 NFTs and SAND tokens worth over $1 million. 

Jurassic World enters the metaverse three years after Spells of Genesis partnered with The Sandbox to explore the virtual world. It also comes less than a year after the launch of The Sandbox DAO meant to involve the web3 community in running the game.

With Jurassic World entering the web3 space, it’s to be seen whether the film’s fans will follow it to the virtual world.
