Arnett Gardens FC came from two goals down to hold Cavalier Soccer Club to an exciting and pulsating 2-2 draw in the feature Jamaica Premier League (JPL) football game at the Anthony Spaulding Sports Complex last night.

Goals from Justin Dunn and Jalmaro Calvin put Cavalier 2-0 up after 35 minutes. But Warner Brown pulled a goal back from the penalty spot in first half added time and Joel Jones tied the game with a 68th-minute strike.

Arnett remain in third on 39 points, while Cavalier climbed one place to fifth on 33 points.

“A little bit disappointed with the way we allowed them to score,” Arnett’s head coach Xavier Gilbert said. “We lost the ball in our attacking third and allowed them to come straight down and score.

“But we could have nicked it in the end,” he said of a late miss by his team. “Such is the nature of the game.”

Cavalier’s head coach Rudolph Speid said they paid the price for squandering chances.

“First half we were 2-0 up and were cruising. We had other opportunities and didn’t convert them,” he expressed. “But that’s how football is; if you get opportunities and don’t score them teams will strategies and get back.”

JPL RECORD

In other games, Mount Pleasant defeated Tivoli Gardens 1-0 to break Arnett Gardens record of 10 consecutive wins in the JPL.

Suelae McCalla scored the game’s only goal in the 39th minute, as Mount Pleasant moved to 49 points, eight clear of Montego Bay United, who drew 0-0 with Portmore United.

At Drewsland Mini Stadium, Waterhouse FC suffered their third straight loss at home, going down to a shocking 3-0 defeat to Chapelton Maroons.

Daniel Watson (10th), Jamari Howell (14th) and Leavaughn Williams (62nd) got the goals for Chapelton.

Harbour View scored their first win in 12 matches to climb out the relegation zone with 16 points, the same as Dunbeholden, who they defeated 4-1 at Harbour View Mini Stadium.

Javid George opened the scoring after 18 minutes and Treyvon Reid made it 2-0 from the penalty spot in the 38th minute. Colorado Murray added a third in the 45th minute to make it 3-0 at half time. Timar Lewis then added the fourth goal seven minutes into the second half.

Although Chevon Watkins pulled a goal back in the 58th minute, Harbour View secured the win.

Meanwhile, Racing United FC hammered Vere Phoenix 3-0 in the other game at Drewsland. Nicklye Ellis (28th), Jevaughn Cole (48th) and Tyrone Mullings (87th) were the scorers for Racing , who moved to 22 points, four behind seventh-place Tivoli.
